Why You Should Get it:  When black people write speculative fiction it is a protest against history.  Do you realize that?  Think about it; the very fact that there are black authors able to gather together to tell stories imagining a better future was science-fiction to our ancestors.  We were what they dreamed and hoped, even if it felt impossible.  This book taps into that incredible notion, showing just how speculative fiction can be used as social justice work.  It shows how imagining different places and different times can provide us the framework to make today better.
